Alright so I'm about to buy a 1989 toyota corolla for $650. It runs and drives but it's got some problems I would like to fix early on once I get it but I'll need help with the diagnosing part.
When it's cold started, it has a slight miss and runs hella rich until it warms up, then it runs great. Idk if it would be the carb, the injectors, or bad sensors, etc?
There was a hole rubbed into the transmission line right behind the front bumper, can it be cut, shortened, then crimped?

I have had this engine in my '87 corolla. You do not have injectors since this is a carburetor motor. It runs rich until it warms up so something could be sticking in the carburetor causing it to dump fuel. Might be worth buying a rebuild kit or swapping it out. Overall its a great engine.

I was thinking of replacing the carb but I wouldn't know how to set it back up properly. As for injectors. Idk why I said that lol.

I snapped it in the engine coolant thermostat housing which I'll now be replacing :/

Is that the right sensor? Or was the sensor and connector replaced with the wrong ones

Looks like the right sensor to me. Take a picture of where it came out of.

Yeah that could be the temperature switch for the fan for sure. It connects where the coolant is leaving the motor it looks like

From what I remember, this is a single cam, carbureted motor with 8 valves. I wouldnt consider building this motor.

I had a 1987 Corolla FX. Guy I bought it from had multiple FX's and he put the 4AGE in those cars with a top mounted intercooler for the supercharger. Was very cool

This was mine back in the day. Mine was gray. Single cam, 8 valve carb lol made like 70 hp or something

I'm gonna have to send it to a shop though. Can't get the manifold unbolted from the exhaust. Someone snapped a bolt and welded over it 🥸
