#Progression and falling behind

I'm not sure how to cover this without looking like I'm whinging, so I'm gonna admit I'm whinging.

I'm a F2P player. I bought the autoloot pack a couple of years back because I was falling behind in AFK gains due to screen clutter after about 10 mins of being active. I've been playing since early 2021 and was for while in the top 5% of the tome. It felt good.

Now I'm struggling to keep up despite playing every day. I can't compete with P2W players and now the tome having actual rewards for being in the top makes it feel like butts. I've had a lot of bad rolls on pets, I can't keep it up and I'm starting to get really down. I've dropped down to top 25% from 5% over the last 2 months and it just really demotivates me as a player. I know I'm not bringing in much cash, but it's becoming more and more obvious that if you don't win giveaways or pay a lot of money, you just can't keep up in Idleon anymore. The folk willing to pay will get the top 5% in the tome and stay there because they get extra stats to keep them there, especially with the stacking nametag bonuses.

I remember there being a lot of discourse around this when the paid pets were introduced and while it was clear that Doot gave you a shedload of gains, you now just can't keep up if you haven't gotten the top pets each rotation. I used to be proud of where I was but now I just don't see the fruits of the efforts when using the mechanics that compare me to other players.

There needs to be some sort of pity system or some way for F2P to keep up that isn't just "spend money, duh".

I love the game but seeing my rank just free fall because I can't afford to spend big bucks on outfits, pets, wings and now trophies and nametags feels awful. $20 packs with one gamebreaking item in each, plus pet gems, plus regular gems to cap out the new bonuses only caters to whales. Lava deserves to be paid for the game he's built, but it feels worse as a player each update

Pets were the main issue up to maybe a year or two ago? When game was starting bundles had just gems/green gems and a single nametag, cape or premium hat that first of all gave relatively low bonus and second was usable only on one character at a time. At some point bundles started getting big permament full account multipliers and items with multipliers, it is starting to make worse difference than pets which you can get some for free.

What I am scared of is how seeing w7 game is being geared more and more towards top players so they have a little struggle instead of steamrolling new content within minutes. They have stats multiple times higher than mine, there is sure lot of stuff I could still optimise but even then I do not think it is possible to reach even 20% of their droprate. Difference is being so big that anything they do not steamroll is slowly nearing the realm of impossibility for me.

Everything is creating sort of powercreep effect, requirements of new additions to the game are rising faster than possibility of upgrading your stats via gameplay alone.

I still love the game, it have ton of content, keeps getting new updates, there is always something to do and work on in it. Just wish it would tone down a little on paid stuff. And I do not mean to not release new bundles, Lava fully deserves money for work he is putting, just maybe instead of every bundle giving yet another full account multiplier have some with extremely cool-looking cosmetics in it? Or some other stuff.

If lava would tone it down he will make spenders unhappy. Look at our fall event. He quickly released it without any new bundle. Ppl like me ( with all bundles bought ) were unhappy we had nothing to purchase

ppl would not complain that much about pack if he had not released 3 pack when w7 dropped, then another one a week later after the event started

I wouldnt care if lava released 20 packs a day the problem is the bonuses and how the gap between f2p people and whales keeps growing

As it should be? In what world someone without disposable income is equal to a spender?

im not saying they should be equal im saying that the gap is alot bigger than it was a year ago for example and as the gap grows bigger so will the difference in how the game is balanced

As someone who bought every bundle to begin with, I'm saying you need to stop this ridiculous defensiveness. It's completely absurd that the bundles introduced in all the recent updates directly act as multipliers, affecting the entire account. You may enjoy investing, but in an idle game, the gap between those who invest and those who don't shouldn't be this large. The vast majority of this game, which peaked at 20k+, are F2P players. Lava needs to at least give them some leeway. Paying $20+ to speed up a single piece of content by 3-5x is the biggest absurdity in this game. Take a look at the difference between the old bundle and the new bundle so that you will be different from the cow to be milked IdleHMMMM

TBH, my only complaint is i wish you could buy the robes and such with gems, so they weren't only restricted to paying customers.

The easiest way for Lava to solve this problem is to sell the absurd bonuses offered by bundles for gems at their original price. For example, unlocking the recently introduced 2x status and gold food bonus with 20k gems is possible(Price balancing is at the mercy of Lava, of course). This encourages f2p players to work on all their products. Eventually, they will be available, albeit late. However, because it's only available through bundles, the gap between f2p and p2w players will never be narrowed

Oh, by the way, there's no point in arguing with Cultist Milk. I skimmed through a few of his posts, and he's just an antisocial guy trying to bully the F2P crowd. Muting would be the most logical approach

Don't worry about Idle, as it's just a kid trying to mock people by buying content in a game. It's important to remember that without F2P players, this game would be at its peak. It's all about balance; if I'm paying, it shouldn't give me a permanent advantage. Instead of P2W, there should be P2Skip so F2P players can follow suit. But as things stand, F2P players can never keep up with P2W players PogPig
