#The Launch of Idleon

Warning: You all know me, this is going to be a big one.

Lava, I know you're wanting to make the Idleon launch official, but I'd like to point out some things here.

So far, we know that world 8 is promised. If you launch W7 and make it big for the Idleon Launch, and world 8 is all you currently have planned, that's a huge milestone, followed by a promise of continued content, and it's just +1 world. From the way I see it on a PR standpoint, it doesn't show much in the commitment department, which is pivotal for indie developers.

Further, you did mention that we would NOT be waiting 4 months for a world. You made a huge roadmap and are now looking at altering that. Your actions are speaking louder than your words. It's known that you don't stick to your plans, and that's not a good thing. If you want to promise future content and keep a playerbase, stick to your word. The future of the launch is what you're putting on the table here.

Alternatively, if you release the next few worlds as you planned, as you communicated, that gives examples and evidence of your commitment. You show a positive improvement, and that's going to carry you farther when you make the launch official. You promised more content and past experiences (at that point) show you can deliver on your promises.

I highly suggest that instead of pushing for a launch and risking a massive flop on this one-time opportunity, (like bugs, incomplete content, etc.) flesh out what you've got going right now. Do that, and take this time to conjure more ideas, make more plans for the next phase of Idleon. Put them in the cabinet, finish cooking what you've got, cook what's on the back burner, clean the kitchen, and get ready for the next big course!! That's when you pull the ideas for post-launch out of the cabinet.

So far, Idleon has gotten bigger than planned, so blame it on the Troll that the launch is with 8 worlds and not 4. ;)

Lava can do anything to the game and it will still remain #1 incremental iddle game on steam. Whatever he does many if not most players will not care as nothing compares to idleon

I'll admit, a lot of people are content suckers, for better or worse. But I mean, it's not like we're exactly helping the issue.

In practicality, Lava can wag a molten finger and we wouldn't tell the difference between a thumb and the longest one in question.

In principle, good changes come from good choices. AAA titles abuse the half-ass formula, hear complaints and whines, and all is fine the next week, and they do it again and again. Lava is an indie game developer, a pretty damn good one given his situation as a SOLO dev! Dude has earned the respect and playerbase just by the fact that he has this game still running for four years. (And no, I'm not a super simp. I just know that game development isn't easy.)

That's not to say he's immune of mistakes. We've had controversy, we've had complaints. Ignorance of a problem doesn't make it vanish. How many more mistakes until another dedicated player leaves, a beloved and core member of the fan base?

We've lost a couple amazing players already... And I'd hate to see more leave...

Amazing players? U mean delusional. All who left cried abt packs.

elfin epoch
#

Are wiki contributors delusional?

Look, I get that people left because of the slew of packs being dropped. You and I both know there are many sides to the idle game genre. You like supporting Lava, and if I had the money, I would too.

And you and I both know that there are outliers in the F2P side of things, who just can't be satisfied with what they have. Those who can't put pride or pound into the game don't really have much weight to their critique, but it's not invisible though.

You've got a lot of money put into this game, and I hope Lava makes great content for players to justify paying money. I also hope Lava makes great content for players to just enjoy as it is. And lastly, I hope Lava looks into the impacts of his present and future prospects with this game. Like I said, the future of Idleon is on the table here.

not just wiki contributors but people who make guides and similar things as well

not even in the first 3 pages in rating, was lazy to search after that

stray hawk

probably meant top free

dense nova
#

still not, no

#

top seller is shop titan, top rated is probably ngu idle or something, idleon is very far behind anyway in rating

#

top seller is nothing to boast on when free to play anyway, the tops are either just very good but paid, either predatory af if free

U gonna compare idleon with cookie clicker

dense nova
#

i'm just saying that the sentence "it will remain top 1 idle game on steam" is totally false

dense nova

Theres no other idle game comparable to idleon

In complexity/growth/visuals

#

If u want to quit idleon rn what other game u would play? Most likely none.

dense nova

Well there actually other idleon like games bit if u want
Anyway, dont say "it will stay top 1 game on steam" then, just say "it will stay my favorite game". As saying its top 1 game on steam is a blablant lie

I still have yet to receive a game that can compare to idleon. Go on. Im waiting.

Umm.... contradicting yourself much? And while, yes, lava made Idle Skilling, it does pre-date idleon. It also shares the idle genre's complexity with interweaving resources and upgrades.

Idleon, as your argument of 'can't be compared to any other idle game' is half true. It is unique, and that is something I can credit. You don't find idle MMOs very often, if at all. You don't find idle games that have various afk mechanics, though there are some. (hence why I ask about other idle games you've played.)

So, yes, idleon has a collection of unique characteristics. However, if taste is your basis, it doesn't hold an argument. The customer is always right in matters of taste, but we are both customers. See the issue?

elfin epoch
# elfin epoch Oh, but to add a point to this message specifically, if Idleon is so amazing, wh...

And if you disagree with certain ideas, that's okay here. You have a right like everyone else to voice your opinion. You have QUITE an opinion, in fact, which speaks passion, something we loosely have in common. So, I do want to know 'why' you may find these ideas/ideals unsatisfactory. And unfortunately, just saying it's already awesome or Idleon is the best because it is, doesn't contribute to a discussion...

So, are you going to contribute or shout praise for the sake of praise and shout ridicule to anyone who disagrees? (And remember, I do agree with you on some points.)

Fine ill bite the bullet. My work revolves in mostly sitting on my laptop. I have tried lots of background games or stuff to keep my mind somewhat more entranced in what im doing but nothing can itch the spots idleon does. Whenevet u "finish" smth theres smth else. A bigger number. A new farm. A new goal. The game is complex and after many months I still feel like a begginer.

#

While there may be other popular iddle games on steam stuff like that miner crap and cookie clicker have nothing facing idleon. The complexity. The diversity. The intricacies. Its just a game u need years to min max and its still updated with amazing stuff

dense nova
#

and ig for browser kinda complete game there is synergism, and phone maybe melvor? idk them much

elfin epoch
# chrome oyster While there may be other popular iddle games on steam stuff like that miner crap...

I see exactly what you mean. I really do! Idleon is a slow grind through and through. It has that idle feel while mixed with the speed of an RPG. Min-maxing is like that post game content where you can grind certain items that permanently buffs a character's stats.

Other idle games ramp up stupid fast! Stupid easy, stupid fast, stupid amounts of neuron-frying dopamine. It hits hard, stays hard, and then fades.

Idleon is a slow drip idle game, and the only way to crank up the speed (nowadays at least.) is through the vault, and even that takes effort and resources! So, I get it!! I do!

#

So, I get your argument on believing Idleon is #1, and this explanation is what we've been asking for. This is why Idleon is amazing, not solely because it is, but because of the things that make it amazing. That's what I wanted to know, and that's what I wanted to see if you found in other games.

And at the heart of it all, games are made from the inspiration of other games. Just look at the Owl. It is idleon's cookie clicker with the caveat of the endgame slog taking months for the 21st Mega feather (the last one, not 21 in the whole mega feather total. I don't know why we count those but I digress...)

Which is itrtg, right?

idleon can reach end game in a few months it's fairly fast for an idle game, it's about in the mid-high ig (fast idle games taking about 1~5 days, medium taking 2 weeks to a few months, long taking years)

btw for an idleon like game on phone there is Dragon Hunter: Idle RPG Battle, last time i tried it, it was kinda meh but pretty new. no idea how good it is rn but if y'all want a li'l new experience but close to idleon, why not ig

dense nova

plenty of games are way longer than idleon

elfin epoch

In any case, with idleon approaching its 'official release', the key that's going to keep Idleon a novelty game, the Idle MMO and not another cash grab, is how Lava handles his approach.

Like I said and like Lava said, the best shot he didn't take was with W4, but if he doesn't buckle down and hit the ground running, he's going to hit the ground fumbling...

Lava's got a lot of work in all directions, not just ahead of him. Like I mentioned at the start, the best case scenario with the PR end of things is a fully fleshed game, W8 like he promised, come up with giga-chad plans for post-release, and use the time he has now to get to that point.

Very few games survive a launch flop. Idleon is not the No Man's Sky of the idle genre. It's great, but it's got some rough patches that need smoothing out.

#

So, Lava, I say this again... DON'T BLOW IT!!

#

Don't jump the gun because you missed the first call to shoot.

Look, I've been writing all day. My literary mind is tired.

Just don't goof this up, Lava.

elfin epoch
#

'dere. Fixed.

elfin epoch
elfin epoch
#

You don't want to belly flop on the water. It's painful...

#

Although, when you think about the idiom, hitting the ground running implies you are running in mid-air prior to the landing. So, fumbling in the air makes sense.

#

Right now, Lava's seeing the checkered line and is thinking of going full sprint in a solo race. He passed a checkpoint back in world 4, decided to keep running, but if he is going to book it while he's keeping a (moderately) decent stride, he's likely to trip over the line instead...

#

There is another checkpoint, Lava. Trust!

elfin epoch
#

Yeah, but he's showing that for a while, so all the more reason to figure out his plan. He had a good idea to break up the launch of W7, is still running slower than planned, so he needs to realize his situation and adjust rather than trying to run faster with no regard for his shortcomings...

#

He could bolt to the finish line and risk a humiliating outcome, or he can slow down and enjoy this pitstop while it's here.

The spectators come when he declares it, and if they wait for him at this finish line, only to witness the flop-finish, it's horrible... And the reason is because those who are new and seeing the big announcement will be his target audience.

Does he really want to risk making himself look like a fool in front of hundreds of thousands of new players?...

#

So, as one of his supporters, a coach even, if you will, I urge him to take a breather, analyze his performance behind him, and perfect his work and deliver on a promise, new or old. (Like W8) If he moves the goal post closer and shows some decent work yet an unstable method, his new playerbase will catch on and see the bugs and glitches, leading to poor reviews, and in turn, a poor launch.

Making good on a promise shows integrity and commitment to his own word. He's struggled to keep his schedule, and rushing for a new one isn't going to fix that. So, complete his goals before the crowd shows up, and he'll know exactly what he's doing, see it play out on the finish line that becomes the new starting line, and if it works then, he can always make it better, and more people will be there to see it.

More people with a gaming passion, a respect for the indie developers and their work, will play a game that shows success. I sure will, and I'm sure many more would too, new and old players.
