There are some items that I can not tell the difference between (copper and gold is an easy example). This is a problem in many parts of the game, specifically with upgrade components. There is no provided name, so I am often required to go look in my chest to match numbers and see what I need to farm. It would be a complete game changer if I we could have some tool tip that shows the name of the targeted item (PC player).

In Anvil upgrades and materials are named.
I think you mean Alchemy Bubbles?
I suppose Day Market and Sailing when upgrading ships
I was specifically referencing alchemy, but this applies to MANY aspects of the game. The anvil is alright as far as I can tell.
Trying to figure out what I needed for vials (and unlock new vials) was what triggered this post. I couldn't tell what resource I needed to drop in front of the cauldron in world two.
https://idleon.wiki/wiki/Alchemy/Vials I know it's a terrible solution, but it's the quickest.
like a setting you could switch on or off that gives a shortened name of the material when you Hover your mouse over it
