when you hatch the newest one you can there's a chance you'll unlock the next one and get synergies for combat. there's also just exp gains from hatching them and your breeding level affects their combat power. some talents on the beast master can help

it is slow and as long as you just check on it and don't let it idle at full eggs you'll make slow and steady progress until all of a sudden you get the team that can beat everything and its over lol

another fucky thing about traps is that they snapshot how much value they'll give you for EXP when you place them, not when you claim them
