3D printer works by using the star talent, equip it in your attack bar to use it, it takes a sample of the activity you’re doing so if your fighing g mush you’ll get a sample of mush spores

Refinery makes salt from materials in storage chest, you can turn on auto refine and it will automatically refine, but if you have it off it will build up and if you reach max amount then it ranks up

You use the 3d printer to fuel your refinery and eventually other systems as well

How do you deal with having no salts in the initial stages of refinery upgrades? Is there any trick or you just go without salt for days

I didn't go without for days and it ended up slowing me WAY down to fix it. Make sure you keep the ratios between salts correct, and pretty soon it'll kinda run itself, plus you'll have some to spend.
