when you rank them up it does increase the power and cost, but you need your things like red and green to be higher than the ones below because if you produce say 100000 red salts and your orange burns through 100000 in less time than the red can produce 100000 then youll never have red salt to be able to upgrade

in short, you gona need combination of mechanics. the hole, lab, divinity. its gona be painful and luck dependent + pets. you want to level up your divinity, and unlock gods like bear first, so your lab can give bonuses, then goat... and after goat you move to lab. your divinity will keep growing and you need the elepehhant. as soon as you unlock him. there comes the hole. you make 2 passive gods for everyone in hole bear+goat. and on every char you take elephant.. or something else. i like elephant couse early he is really good and helps skip time on mechanics that can take weeks. like refinery, breeding, sailing etc.
