The hp bar is at 18B/19B now, and showing about that much graphically, so it just must not have been showing decimal places like some of the other abominations did. Exactly what John said. You fight the abominations on various maps when you go through again as a wind walker class. You won't see them otherwise. Sorry if this was the wrong place to post the original question - it's technically on the world 3 map but is played much later in the game.
