the ui is really confusing.
basically at all times from now on every boat you buy that you have put a captain on will be sailing back and forth to the island you told it to, dropping off treasure every time it gets home
step one is to buy a boat (in treasure map menu) anda captain (on the pedestal in town) and click the boat then the captain to put him in there
step two is in the map you take that captained boat and select an island with it and it'll say it'll take however long per cycle

then you just come by and check on the loot pile every so often and buy upgrades to boat loot capacity/speed, buy better captains, buy more boat slots and more captain slots

and every island has different loot including Artifacts which are the fucked up good reward check the wiki for a list
