Later you unlock Shiny pets and will come back to them but for now the only reason would be if you actually care about going for higher stats on one to use in combat or forage

if you are on the quest I think you are.. you need to turn off autoloot and just let the shovels stack into the location... and you have to leave them there and teleport out of the map or leave through the portal.. picking them up after getting 15/15 resets them.. teleporting out keeps the progress so you can turn in the quest
