There's a way to not unlink much if at all. If you can wait for Conjuror in The Cavern, the Idleon Majik "Pocket Divinity" lets you pick 2 gods to be perma on. Simply link the snake god on unlock first, then you can just pick Goharut once unlocked in Cavern. From there, all but 1 character would ever be played actively until you unlock most/all the gods.
