The reason not to do lustre is because it doesnt continue along the upgrade path, so it's kind of wasteful. My guys actually went through the entirety of world 6 in void armor

From what I've read from others, you'd ideally go Dementia -> Void -> Chizoar helmet and bodyplate. Skip Lustre, improve your alchemy and stamps for more defense. There's also a cooking plate (Apple) that gives more defense.

Book checkouts are used to increase the maximum level of a talent, VIP books are unlocked at world 4 earliest I think, but these cost 5 checkouts to gain 1. Normal checkouts range from 100(?) to your maximum. VIP ones can range from 1 to your maximum

stat skills or skills that gain bonuses based on talent level (tentacteye is a really great example of getting +1s cd reduction per 100 talents, having a high enough maxlvl from library lets you increase the cd reduction which is one of the main requirements to be able to hit good cc numbers consistently)
