Critters and XP are determined on placement. Shiny are determined on collection. So collect on BM if you really want them but shiny's are caped per trap.

Natural traps. Normal setup is one on each char with Vman for XP and set the rest with BM for critters. But you can go all in on XP for a bit if need be.

so to just name 2 reasons (there are more) why you shouldn't be doing that right now and should be doing lab instead: you need to progress a bit in lab to get a node which doubles ur kills, which makes doing what u want twice as fast. then when you reach w5 there u unlock another mechanic that doubles ur kills again making it 4x faster
