Default cycle time is 15 minutes for red page, iirc. So 4 cycles an hour. If you hit the "View rank" button, you can see your Power per Cycle, which is how many salts you produce

For the skull jumping one all you need to do is not full clear. There needs to be at least one mob alive for a skull to jump to.

W2 minibosses can drop a recipe for them. Pretty easy to craft. Early on you'll just have to buy the talent point frags, but once you get choco chip and start farming crystal mobs you'll have plenty

Sounds like you're hitting the respawn cap then. Try equipping a speed potion or two. Also remember that afk info screen doesn't equate to active farming kills, especially if your class has active respawn abilities (only hunter until you get your Elites)
