Can't remember exactly, but you should be able to make a Quarterstaff fairly quickly after starting. Check the recipe in your anvil, will tell you how to get it.

You can craft new weapons in the anvil in w1, or if you have the upgrade vault thing, from codex you can access anvil too. You can get new weapons unlocked in the unlock tab in tasks (W1 green guy with the billboard, or in codex too but you need to do the W2 billboard guy quest to get access to tasks in codex and to unlock W2 tasks and merit shop)
