If it's not that, then it's probably the case that they don't have Arctis as their linked God, which means when you take them out of the Lab vat they're no longer part of your chain, and then they disconnect everyone after them

There's two Lab nodes that increase your Connection Range
Viral Connection
And Pyrtie Rhombol (orange jewel)

Lab can be a bit wonky with Connection Range, so if those are too far away from you, and you disconnect from them, you disconnect from everything because you also lose their buffs to Connection Range

So just try and make them as close to your characters as possible and see if it fixes it

depends where you are at in the game, for some people damage is only relevant for pushing emperor, dog den, vman speedrun and really not much else, so it's definitely not the most important stat in the game
