This is just breath of fire III and IV, but looking at Lava's work makes me think of these games.

Didn't get enough screenshots of the first game, but here's more from the third and second as well.

If they're not suppose to be in the combat party, they should not be affecting the party in combat.

They've opened the entire floor up to dumb bullshit and people ate it up because the game lacks good mechanical depth in the first place, citing it helps add to it. If you needed to do THIS sort of shit, your game was already bad.

I wanted to like star rail. I'm a guy that prefers slower, turn based combat so my slow-as-fuck dumbass can take the time to work things out. But when the game opens with "you've got button A which is your normal attack and button B that is special, oh and you have an ult"
Just, fucking, stop with the lack of fucking options already. There's literally no fucking excuse in a turn based game to have so few options. Ramping it up through adding characters that have transformative commands doesn't count, because it's another way to gimp characters you have in order to push to get the newer character, but that's just par for the course with gachas.

It's acceptable at the start of a game, you lack options to deal with your enemies generally, and it should open up as you progress the character. Instead it's just a fucking headache of passive abilities galore in order to make the two attacks outside of ult remotely interesting, when this never needed to be a comprimise in the first place.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper noticed this early, and focused on being able to at least SWAP your core two skills out to customize the character within their acceptable skill parameters. That made it a lot more enjoyable to people as the characters may only have a handful of options for battle, but you can at least choose your options on those characters.

When mihoyo, what you see is what you get, and nothing more. It's disappointing in almost an infuriating way about how backwards gaming becomes because of the mobile platform.

The moment I hear something is going to be geared for mobile, I lose any and all interest because I'm almost certain it isn't going to be enjoyable for me anymore.

But hey, listen.

If the game is enjoyable still for you, please have at it.

Cause maybe your participation will cause it to evolve into something I can enjoy, rather than see where I think it's going, a stagnation of shiny crap that lures people in to drown them.

I'm just a bitter asshole that grew up with things that were more complex than what we're given for technology now, way ahead of what we had before, and it fucking baffles me how easily it somehow flows through.

Like this issue I have here wouldn't have been a problem if you had to SLOT Castorice into a "passive party member slot", but no her effect is globally active as long as you pulled for her. It doesn't truly matter what her ability is, even as mundane as being a single revive in combat, it opened the door for much more of this and I don't trust the game to respect my time in the future because of it.

So it's a "Haha pull for your extra passive effects!" It'd be like if Lava added wings but just having them in your storage effected all your characters. That would easily piss a bunch of people off. At least with how it works now, you need a set of wings for each character.

Well, actually that's not quite a good parallel. I hope it sorta makes the point clearer though.

It started when covid hit, and the owners were having a hard to moving around to deal with shows, as she was a show dog before. However some health issues bar her from competing as she'd be considered unfit for the competitions due to a problem with her front teeth. Since these competitions are used to help judge the healthiest of the breed, and thus helps work towards removing health problems from said breeds. Though in a way its shitty because it's basically eugenics for the breeders at the top, they're looking for healthy dogs so past problems don't plague future generations. Not really sure how to feel about it.

Now, I'm not exactly any good owner myself, but people say she's happy, so I can't see that I'm doing wrong at least.

Though I admit I think about it a lot, not doing all the cool things the owners could be taking her around for, due to lack of funds.

I mean, does it matter to her? Probably not. She's probably just happy as long as I'm there and that seems to be enough. I'm just sad I can't do it in my position.
