Right where the pickaxe is placed is a fantastic mountain base location. It's got 8 ore nodes, I want to say. It's well defended with only one entrance, and you can easily cross the bridge to fight Chillet at your convenience.

This is probably the spot I would go for

The base icon at the bottom left of this picture is another fantastic mining operation. There's a split between the area, so it's not as nice as a purely flat zone, but it's well defended and also has 8 ore nodes.

If you need more information to help you find either spot, I'm happy to help. They're both relatively near the starting area, so you don't have to explore for hours to get to them or anything, but they're definitely a world of difference compared to not having them. The ore production is wild.
