My snail solver sadly takes like 30+ minutes of number-crunching to resolve and doesn't even land on a global optimum.
My best solution so far is slightly different from yours at the low end (up to level 20) and very different at the high end (up to level 25)
This is my current optimal solution for reaching level 20 snail. It claims to be ~10% faster than the heuristic to have listed here for reaching level 20.
It anticipates that, if infinite people were to follow this path, this path would generate the lowest average number of mail required to reach level 20.
Since there is some growing interest/utility in having these heuristics out there I'll try again to optimize a couple more times and then update my snail sheet with my claimed optimal routes (since we're starting to get to the levels where we need encouragement)

In my case, when I optimize for snail mail this is my rationale:
If infinite people were to follow the upgrading scheme I've come up with, then the average amount of mail required to reach the desired level (20 or 25) will be the smallest value possible. This includes the portion of unlucky souls who get reset along the way, dragging up the average.
Psychologically, some people may prefer to play a safer route, but the heuristic I report is the "optimal way to play" in order to reach the end on average in the shortest time.
Like I mentioned above though, I'm treating this as a non-linear problem and can't easily guarantee a global optimal solution.

that's not the "actual" hull
the actual pressure vessel would be shaped like a pill, so that's most likely an extra layer to fit some equipment outside of the pressure vessel

It get better but only if you want things to get better. The reality is that things will only get better if you make them better, but a lot of the times it is much easier than you think.

A lot of people get caught up in the dopamine cycle where everything you do is just secretly to get you to the next hit of dopamine. I've fallen victim to it and it makes you feel like you're just a slave to your habits and impulses sometimes. One thing that really helped me "dopamine detox" and just going outside for a walk and getting some sunlight every day.
