I think the difference of opinion is due to a big divide between end-game and early-mid game players.
So for someone like me in late endgame, not having Doot is not a big deal (although I wish I still had him for QoL). The bonuses the Pig/bundle gives doesn't do anything for me at this point.
Autoloot however is absolutely mandatory to progress in the game, and should be #1 priority for everyone to get, either via the Pig, purchasing AL only, or the new newbie bundles. The caveat is that AL is probably not required pre W6-ish.

Yeah, some ones you might want to keep an eye out on for a trade using the balloonfish would be stuff like Pig which gives autoloot + infinite teleports, Golem for x10 damage, Jocund which doubles your kill counts, Glimbo which does much the same but a little lower for some artifact find, or Panda to help out with salts
