Is there a minimum amount of time needed for the AFK 3D printing to actually print?

I'll be jumping between toons, get a 3D printing proc from say a five minute afk but it doesn't actually print anything. And I know for definite that it hasn't given me anything because I'm working on bars and all my ore goes into the furnace but short AFK times never give me more ores.
