For squirrel you can maybe take it to 2x bit multiplier for now and then put everything into speed.
Otherwise you will get bit multiplier through fertilizer upgrades and discovering more plants and their evolutions.

There are also a couple of important imports, the kitsune rock and seashell. Kitsune increases growth speed (Important for getting higher evos, more bits) And seashell directly increases bits through total plant evolutions

Combination of growth speed, evolution chance and I guess luck too. Don't worry about those too much at this point, you will get more eventually
