farming the DR speeds up later, but that's part of why getting talent levels is so important. Instead of spawning 5-6 mobs at level 100/150, I can spawn 13 base currently, and instead of it taking the 200 normal kills to spawn the arcane mobs, I'm immediately lowering it to 190. Upgrades in the tesseract also increase how many can spawn + lower how many kills it takes, but the talent levels are mandatory for getting to that point and beyond

Especially since each world requires more kills in less time as you progress

Basically:
-w1, w2, and w3 upgrade stones give weapon power/defense/skill power & a random stat when you use them
-w4, w5, and w6 upgrade stones give more weapon power/defense/skill power & instead of a random stat, they're guaranteed to give the main stat of the class you use them on. This means that using a w4 armor upgrade stone while on a warrior will give that gear +4 strength, even if you swap that gear piece to another character. This means that your divine knight, who needs wisdom for accuracy, can give his armor to one of your wizard characters, the mage can use the upgrade stone and give the gear more wisdom, and then you can put the gear back on your divine knight. More wisdom on gear = more accuracy for divine knight. The same thing works for archers needing strength and mages needing agility for accuracy.
-w5 upgrade stones give more stats than w4, and w6 gives more than w5, so prioritize the best ones you can get, but that's basically why and how you'd want to use upgrade stones if you're having accuracy problems
