I suspect it's a combination of having a low amber drop chance (which favors cyan pot), having a low amber multiplier (which makes red pot's effect stronger), not going deep enough for cyan to stack up, and RNG not hitting cyan enough with the free 5th floor pots.

Cyan needs to stack to a high number to be effective, while the red pot is a flat boost to amber gain. This is why it favors people with high stamina who can run like 5 cyan pots and still reach depths 140+
