You can't trust that altar. It's very prone to visual anomalies. Imo test it yourself - AFK an hour and see if your divinity points move or not.

It's a decent idea to go through your characters and use a few hours for each skill just to see what you can get with your current XP multiplier, but more XP multipliers are soon-ish at your point in the game, so it's not a massive deal.

As an example I can hit one log and get ~50 lvls of chopping

Divinity is important. 2nd Divinity lets you have all characters OUT of the lab but still be considered in the lab for the sake of connecting to node bonuses, and is a great early W5 goal to shoot for.
Higher Div level is also nice. At Div 40 you can meditate passively when doing other activities for free Div EXP at all times while AFK.
(If you happen to have the Doot pet, Div 2 is VITAL and an immediate goal to get EVERYONE to Div 2 ASAP as it gives a free connection to every divinity, including ones you didn't even unlock yet)

Yes, but you'll later get "Monument AFK %" that increases this like AFK Gains. 200% Monument AFK would mean every 1h you spend gives 2h of respect.
(Note: Regardless how much AFK% you have for Monument, you must spend at minimum 1h to start getting AFK gains for it, similarly to 2m of AFK for normal activities to count)
