IIRC it won't take effect until the next day. It also doesn't affect the extra boron gains (as in, if you use all your atom upgrades, then level boron the same day. It will only give you the boron atom clicks, without the 2x)

quite a bit of it boosts earlier skills as a means to catch-up
but if you're looking for damage to push regularly through w6, the big one is still going to be alchemy, equinox, rift, hole, and various skills

The first couple layers should be easy, and as they get harder you get more mining boosts (especially once you unlock c4)
