once you unlock the mutation tab (at level 5), I suggest picking as often as possible to maximize the amount of rolls you get to unlock new mutations

evolved plants will give their tier value to the dna stack, so you don't completely lose out when you sleep or are gone from the game for a while, but the more mutations you get, the more overall bits you gain
