First, put some levels into Kitsune; the bit penalty does not change, but the growth speed keeps scaling up.
Concurrently, put levels into growth speed from fertilizer and the squirrel

Secondly, you should be checking Gaming at least several times a day for the growth speed to outweigh the bit penalty.

There's no hard number per se, as there are several variables influencing Gaming

As I only check Gaming once a day on average, I still have Kitsune off

ES damage in practice is especially much higher than sheet damage, when factoring in Lightning Barrage, probably the most powerful attack in the game when controlling for talent levels, sheet dmg and Crit Chance/Dmg.

Meteor and Radiant Chainbolt are also quite effective crowd control.

All three attacks also have short cooldowns even without Mana PO Box
