re: cooking/breeding - because of how quickly you can get through w4 and how long these skills actually take, you'll find that most of the progress you won't make until late w5/early w6 - this is pretty typical nowadays, don't be discouraged
w5 is a bit of a balancing act where you need to do a little catchup since kattle is a dps check, but it is still beneficial to get into w6 to get started on those time gated skills

if you already have the pens, you sit there and reset boxes - each set of 100 maximizes your box:pen ratio but will start scaling up in cost. if you ahve the printer to support it, po1 and po3 using w1/2 resources can be pretty good to spam.
whenever you finish your box resets for the day do the following to ensure you start at 0 streak the next day for lowest cost:
a) use 1st pen to refresh order but dont complete it
b) use 2nd pen to remove shield
c) ready for next day

i find it easiest if you log into your account on mobile and just alternating spam thumb taps while watching a show or doing something else. po box on steam is actual way worse

your SB's family bonus will reduce minimum sailing time for a 1 way trip. i think there's 1 or 2 other ways to do that. for this example let's say it's 100 minutes, it'll vary from 1 account to the next

fungi meadows is 300K distance. you'll need a sailing speed of 300k in 100 minutes to minimize that. scaling it up because boat speed is displayed in hours, it means you would want to aim for 300k / 100 x 60 = 18k *180k per hour, missed a 0

What's the best way to get Evergreen/Chemical plant mutation in gaming?
Because genes have terrible scaling/diminshing returns in providing additional odds in getting the unlock - you want to make as many attempts as possible with lower odds. More rolls at low odds >>> less rolls at only ever so slightly better odds.
Generally recommended to not wait for more than ~1% for evergreen or ~0.1% for chemplant. Be warned: it can still take you weeks or even months to unlock if you've upset the rng gods.
General strategy: harvest all -> make an attempt. Have sprinkler charge? Use sprinkler -> harvest all -> make an attempt. Have a log game game? Use log game -> harvest all -> make an attempt -> use sprinkler -> harvest all -> make an attempt.
