The biggest early reason is to get plants faster to roll for mutations sooner. After that, if you dont check often and havent upgraded it much, yes, youll see more bits, I did this for a long time. However id still suggest upgrading it and keeping it on as you should get higher tier plants faster to offset the bit reduction

Granted, meals and bubbles occur on a minimum level. So they can be managed well to ensure the more difficult thresholds are leveled.
