1. loot capacity. sailing artifacts are main w5 progression
2. w5 skill xp. you'll be sitting on divinity for a while, and skill levels help so its good to get it started early
3. respawn. portals get huge in w5
4. boss armor. recommended to save 5 points in preparation for boss armor, that way you'll be able to unlock all the pieces without having to do additional tasks
5. tab4 talent points and star talent: you might be low on elite tab talent points and stats when you're new to w5 but there are other sources. you can prioritize these over boss armor if you're not confident in crafting later armor

I've heard conflicting information on the onyx statue quest / dropping statues to make onyx statues. Does it have to be done per character? If so, which parts? How many total power statues should I keep in mind?

Complete questline on 1 character gives you this Onyx tool. Dropping the Onyx tool on the statueman in w1 town ALLOWS YOU to then drop 20k stacks of any other statue to make it onyx-tier for the whole account.

As part of doing the questline, you must give up 20k power statues every single time. The benefit to doing this questline on multiple characters is that one of the rewards is Kachow Statues that are otherwise basically unfarmable.

You're fine as long as you have the 3:3:3:1 class structure on your roster.
If you really regret it you can swap elite classes if you're willing to pay later on. The only real irreversible damage is having a lopsided base-class distribution.

i think if you logout you lose whatever you were doing but if you're online when the internet comes back it saves to the cloud so you get everything you got while offline

With Goat you can put them in Lab to get xp for Lab and Div. I think the level 40 style gives you 3 xp/h without being on the altar. So try to go for that
