the only things I can think of is that playing ES is laggy and slows down your ingame clock, construction EXP works in that it is always ticking in game so if you lag hard enough, that will affect your EXP as well. when you finish your ES session, do you click cloudsave? if there is a lot of time on your ES, that would explain it

I don't usually cloudsave between switching but I also don't lag that much with ES, I lag a bit for sure but only enough to move my time a minute or two after hours long sessions

Look at it this way, Discovery rate is such a singular purpose. Once you aren't discovering clouds its a wasted stat. You get the same benefit sorta out of boat speed, but that is usefull afterwards.
