Usually people dump most of their gold into their first ship's speed. You've been wasting it upgrading first 4's stuff amount.
Use all your gold to make 1st ship as fast as possible to unlock the rest of the islands much faster

So generally, these are the gods to use and the reasonings:
Snake god: for +30% afk gains, useful just before a reset to get larger samples. Not really a permanent god.
Bear: keeps your character in lab, so they always have x2 prints, and you keep all your lab nodes
Nobiset: good for extra damage and extra kills for portal pushing. Good on characters that need to push further in worlds. Great on BB if you're farming 100k/1mil/100m for each respective chow type (damage/cooking eff/x1.1 cooking)
Bunny/hare god (depending on who you ask). x3 prints. Mostly used with ES's secondary link (polytheism). Combos with lab bonus for x6. (ES connected to bear/bunny get x6, a character connected to bunny, while in lab gets x6).
Goat: You gain divinity while also in lab. Useful if you need both.
Omni/elephant god: The best god to put lab sitters on, unless you need to level divnity too. You get a random proc of sailing, gaming, refinery, breeding,cooking or printing.
Purrmep: stick your most useless character on this (Beastmaster), then stick BM into lab. Double your divinity exp/points, but sacrifices a character. Turns up to 10 characters divinity-ing into "18 characters worth" of divinity-ing.
Flutterbis: Leveling any skill over 50 gives a pearl which increases exp of something under 50 by 40%. also gives up to +150% skill exp. Good option for vman skill leveling.

Last 2 gods have no major effect or minor link effect yet.

Also, get everything if you have doot. Not at all broken.
