So I'm a bit confused on div gains, I've got an exp multi on one character of 2.52x, and 5 people were on mantra (1 xp per character), but claiming at 5 hours only gave me 12 xp. Is there something that can drop xp as well?

Mantra works a bit differently compared to other Divinity styles. The gains of having all ten characters on mantra will not visually show up in neither afk info screen, nor afk claim screen.

In order for your characters to get their fair share of shared exp, you start by first claiming the afk time of a mantra character. The game, upon claiming afk mantra time, will then calculate what should be sent to the rest of your characters. However, that shared exp also does not show up on the remaining characters afk claim screen, but it does get added to your divinity exp bar none the less!
The easiest way to make sure mantra is working for you is to claim all afk time on all mantra characters, and watch your exp bars on the rest of your characters go up.

(Shared exp from the bubos lab talent also works the same way! Gotta claim your bubo first to let the game know how much exp should be shared)

One major pro tip on rift: It counts for chows and zows on your barb. Throw them in there for a week to rack up really easy kills with low hp mobs before you get too far
