How about this, remove the update entirely. Replace ALL blue gems with green gems, (updating the blue gems that drop to no longer be items but go straight into currency like coins) give a bonus to all players along with double the amount paid for back to doot rollers. Doot is removed entirely along with all other pets/bonuses until he can work out a more fair and balanced way to deal with it.

And forget about the damn cheaters; they won't be able to cheat for more gems after that so once they use up what they've got they won't be able to cheat for more blue gems.

Depends on his goals. he's put a couple years into Idleon, maybe he's tired and wants to cash out now? Adding more gacha features will provide good chunks of income with less development work needed
