Long story short do a run with support cards that give skills that are really good or a specific skill you really want but would not be used in the deck on your ace (for example Yaeno muteki MLB borrow), then use that Uma as your new parent for doing the same, check the affinity calculator for umas with good affinity for your ace and use those or just use umas with less affinities to guarantee a specific affinity you want

Eventually you'll hit an uma with like tail held high, play times over and ramp up and ye that's nice

Also aim for 600 in speed-stam-power even if you're going for skills primarily but if you can't that's fine too

When a parent has a spark, your uma at the end of the career has a higher chance of inheriting said spark in her sparks

Or use an uma with desirable unique inheritance if you have those yes
