Not sure if you've already done it. I'm assuming this is the stage related to ping pong.

You can't deal damage and only your spirit can. They act when enemies act. So focus on debuffing enemies while buffing and healing the spirit itself. You can easily do this by getting Sonetto to Disarm whichever enemy is gonna act twice while buffing the spirit.
