frame drops may cause certain skills to activate later than intended and this may causes instability where someone live or die due to this, easy fix is to not like have the run relying on certain skills exact perfect frame timing (this is more obvious during annihilation auto run as those frame loss adds up )

some operators have rng in their skills(eg. crits) and these rng do get seeded into the auto deploy. something like "this Operator crit X times in this run" but the turn they crit is not in the same order. criminal of this can be seen from waltuh's mini explosion crit talent. more simpler rng such as how much eyja gain sp through her talent is seeded properly.

You sure it isn't the hunger mechanic thats killing your units? The enemies in this event are mostly just tanky or cc focused so they aren't supposed to hit hard
