I’ve been active in the arknights channel/-s for one and a half years and in the server for three and a half years, which I thought would be enough time to assume I’m not trolling or have generally bad intentions. Now you’re singling me out as someone who is unfit to engage in banter because it cannot be verified that I’m not being serious when I am making jokes due to you not having “known me” long enough, if I am understanding you correctly. That is not a universal criteria, no? Personally I would consider myself to “know” you at least a little, although of course not as well as people who’ve been active here since years before me, perhaps I would even think of you as “someone online I am on friendly terms with” and if you were to write something which would be hurtful if it was genuine I would assume it was said in jest. When I have joked about you not being paid for the moderation you do, for example, I have, naturally, never been serious.
I’m having trouble with this concept of ‘something being a joke until it isn’t’ and from my perspective this went from 0-100 quite fast. Since I stepped over a, to me, abstract invisible line I perceived I was immediately believed to be a reprobate. It’s as if you think I would somehow know all the intricacies of the way you would perceive an interaction and think of it the exact same way, meaning everything you interpreted was also precisely what I meant, which is not the case and makes me feel misrepresented.
Furthermore, regarding what you said in response - “Stop being a dick” is completely fair, I respect and recognize that you think I crossed a line which I wasn’t aware of. Even if we conduct ourselves faultlessly according to our own morals and etiquette, not everyone agrees on what constitutes those and that’s why I can see that what you read was different to what I thought I wrote. “Consider this a warning”, however, leaves no room for discussion and makes me sad

I have had people who I thought I knew use banter as an excuse/pretence to attempt to bully other users (including myself) within the server with personal insults. None of those users are still in the server because that’s not the type of community we want to foster here. I would say, as a moderator, I have every right to be cautious and use my best judgment to nip things in the bud before they go too far. I do this with everyone I feel has gone too far, not just you.
No one will think less of you because I warned you to watch what you say. Everyone makes mistakes, including me. What’s important is we learn from them and do our best to avoid similar situations in the future.
If I believed you had ill intentions here or were just out to make trouble, you would not still be here. You would be banned.
I don’t ban people over disagreements, but I do know what I don’t like, and I don’t like to have my intelligence insulted like that, in banter or otherwise. It just feels like a passive-aggressive attack through text most of the time. I do not use personal insults against other users and never would, because I know I myself don’t like being insulted and it really can start to infringe on rule #2 if you’re not careful with your banter.
