so, i've been looking around but a feature that saves movetimes to pgns in chess guis doesnt seem to exist, it sounds like it should be possible since people have put movetimes in the pgn format
i understand that maybe its not standard so its not included
anyways the point is that it would be useful to know for instance how long did the engines think in a tc game

as i said in #off-topic , cutechess does this by default
here is a random snippet of a cutechess pgn i have laying around

Rd7 {-1.99/16 0.25s} 21. Rg1 {+1.98/16 0.32s} Rad8 {-2.05/16 0.28s}
you can clearly see it includes how long the engine took
i see, no other chess gui does it unfortunately, i wanted for instance, save the time moved for players, for example when playing on a ics
i saw that just now
IIRC arena does it too, or maybe it was just depth?
it saved engine noise

not sure if it saved the move time
doesnt seem so?
or maybe it did save it
was it 36s?
those are comments not move times
the second move was 36s yeah
yeah that last number is the seconds I think
its saving movetimes but not in a movetime format
It will show with an s if you open it in arena
yeah i noticed
are you sure a "movetime format" exists? I'm not aware of one
how about other chess programs through
yeah, %movetime, %time, etc
its not a standard
?
ah you want a specific output
not just for the pgn to contain how long it took
gotcha
as a special move time, not as a comment
so it correctly shows the movetimes in the gui or something like lichess
yeah, i also didn't know that existed
lichess supports importing movetimes in studies for example
and im certain that chess guis support loading movetimes but im not entirely sure if they actually do
arena seems to support it in its own way from comments
so i think cute chess pgns might not be compatible with arena?
Looking at a random lichess pgn it is in a comment like { [%eval 0.0] [%clk 1:30:57] }
Oh, lichess does movetimes?
yeah %clk is the better one
i forgot
apparently the pgn format only supports up to the seconds for movetimes
thanks
movetimes with chess guis
huh, apparently arena doesnt understand %emt
but it seems like cutechess and arena support commented movetimes?
i'll try winboard/xboard
apparently winboard doesnt understand movetimes
cutechess movetimes dont work in arena
cute chess cant load games :(
well then
