Ok, I guess it's probably fine then. My first reaction was "oh no, is it a blind stray?" but then she doesn't even seem like a stray, just scared. It might be difficult to get on good terms with a cat that old, especially if they cannot see, though they do recognize humans by scent of course and by sound to lesser extent. Like Summer said, it takes time, possibly lots of it. The cat's innate temperament also makes a huge difference. If she's fed indoors, you should do the feeding at the regular time she's used to, that's my tip.

we got him off a cattle ranch, and when we were taking him home he was really lethargic. so i called my sis (she’s a vet) to come check him out. he had 4 ticks in each ear and i don’t even know how many on his stomach. fairly recently we learned he has a genetic defect which is going to make him blind in his right eye

Oh, yeah. Ranch dogs pick up a lot of ticks and fleas. It’s real important that working dogs get preventatives! That’s overlooked a lot with outside dogs.
Good on you to take care of him though. Defects or not, dogs are amazing friends and I’m happy to hear he’s got a good life with you

They look like newborn kittens (eyes aren't open). They're unable to regulate their own temperatures, so make sure to keep them warm but not too hot. They can't use the bathroom by themselves and a need to eat every 2-4 hours, making them difficult. Just gotta keep em warm and Im sure the vet can handle them
