hey, we were just doing nightmare, and it was down to mimic, obake and banshee

what is the actual fucking time for obake's UV?

because the ghost stepped into salt, left uv, and it disappeared after like 8 seconds. i watched it from start to finish

then, after a hunt was finished, the uv stayed for a MUCH longer time, and it had a banshee scream. so i thought it was a mimic. but it turned out to be a banshee

so does anyone have a factual resource for obake's shortened UV ?

The only ability/tell a Mimic can't copy is Goryo DOTS, and that's solely because it doesn't have DOTS evidence.

my cursor won't show up in game, i change the settings cause the cursor size and opacity are set to 0, then i reset to see if it'll show up upon restarting the game, and my settings are set back to 0. what do?

If your cursor settings (or player colors) are not saving in the game after clicking APPLY - and you have the “optimize game automatically” option in Nvidia App turned off - load into a contract and adjust them there. Please also make sure to report this issue in #bug-reports - thank you!

yeah i think it's not actually updating the settings for some reason. we got in game and changing the cursor settings worked but my husband changed his fps to limit it to 60 but his overlay showed it was still going over 60. also it kept resetting his microphone settings

Here's a question for the skilled players... how does a player move backwards, while looking ahead at the approaching ghost, as in looping a kitchen counter? With mouse and keyboard? But how?

so u just keep ur aim on the ghost and use the wasd keys to move around

I watch players like Insym loop the ghost around counters/van in garage, and think, damn, I need to learn how to do that. I run forward away from ghost and try to sneak a peek behind me....

With adjacent rooms, especially without any inbetween walls, it is extremely likely this was just the Foyer being the ghost room, but the ghost short/long roamed to the dining room, and that's why you got a reply. (Spirit box is distance-bound. It doesn't care if you're in the ghost room or not, as long as you're within range of the ghost, and the lights in the room are off)

Not for long, but if you have a ghost camping two rooms in close proximity, it's technically possible for both rooms to have freezing, but none of them should be particularly low freezing, since the ghost keeps moving between them.

But I don't know if there's anything in the code that prevents it. I've never seen actually freezing in two rooms at once, only very near freezing in one and actually freezing in the other (Ridge downstairs bathroom/corridor, for instance)

No. It's probably like any other online game. Shitty connections, dropped packages or high latency cause all kinds of haywire with the communication.

I've never had a single disconnect or drop as long as I play with people in my region. However, I do frequently play with a friend from NA (I'm EU) and we have him drop every 5 or so games if I'm the host of the room. We've yet to have a single drop if he hosts. (His connection is known to be very spotty).

So perhaps the game is just less lenient to clients dropping than hosts dropping.

Also, something that confused me for a long time: All items have the same cost across tiers. So a T1 camera is the same price as a T3 camera. So once you upgrade an item, you always have access to the new tier, and you pay nothing extra for it if you need to replace it.

Hunts are great 🙂 My fear of hunts was cured after the slowpoke challenge on Woodwind a while back, where the ghost was 50%, but you had no sanity. You got instahunted, but the ghost couldn't catch you. It taught me how to treat hunts, and now I love them because they give me so much info.

Sanity is so helpful for IDing ghosts, honestly. I keep that on always, unless I'm on 0 san games.

Activity is very not useful most of the time. I tend to keep that off, unless I play with other people, who can monitor. Sometimes it's helpful if you're trying to locate a ghost with Sound Sensors but overall...it's not that useful. (Outside of buggy EMF5 on challenge mode)

You don't loop revs unless you have an LOS breaker nearby, such as the kitchen island on Tangle. It will kill you. You identify it as a Rev, go "Oh crap", loop for as long as you can, smudge and hide.

(Or you're on Willow and laugh as he skids into the table of kings in the living room)

Well, I say "you" don't. Maybe there are madlads who can loop a Rev forever, but I sure don't. XD

Usually I identify the Rev on the molasses step speed and just hide until the hunt is over.

The T2 UV is honestly goated though, I will agree.

But overall, I think it has to be the T2 smudge for me. It is perfect in every way, and a core tool of almost every hunt I do.

On 0 sanity, you nail it instantly. It can be trickier on 100 sanity games. Usually we let one of us use the sound recorder/parabola/spirit box, to limit the curse to one person, and then monitor the sanity. If we suspect a moroi.

In general? No. It can be useful for finding a sneaky ghost on very large maps. Or monitoring for ghost room changes when you're not out there (for instance, Sunny Meadows, when you're traveling a lot)

Sometimes you can use it to rapidly deduce top floor or bottom floor of Edgefield/Ridgeview.

But honestly, you're better off bringing the Para in that case

One of the nichest cases we used it for was to get a clear listen to huntin footsteps of a ghost, because I couldn't hear them while running from the ghost. So we put down a sound sensor, I ran the ghost over it and my wife listened on the sensor and she could identify the speed. But it is, without challenge, the least useful tool in the arsenal. Even worse since they're rather expensive to bring.

As far as I am aware, paranormal sounds (moans, whispers, groans, banshee yells etc) do not pick up on the Sound Sensor, no. Footsteps do when they step in salt, or when hunting.
