yeah it wouldn't be the worst thing, but you'd want to make sure it didn't also already have LoS on you, b/c that would be wearing off a bit as well. It's just not as clean of a test anymore

And if you had T3 sanity meds it only takes 10s for the full effect, which is doable. T1 takes 30s for the full thing

Plus Moroi has several other things that can be used to ID it, especially in evidence games. It's more of a "fun fact" test nowadays

Jinn: I stood really far away with the breaker on and it did not speed up at all, Hantu: No freezing breath, Raiju: Did not speed up with EMF turned on, Revenant: Did not speed up on LoS, Deogen: Does not speed up when I am far away, Thaye: Consistent speeds, Moroi: My sanity is 0 and morois base speed at 0 is 2.25 m/s yet the ghost slows down during a hunt when it goes upstairs

Even when I let it hunt in the basement with me its super fast

but the second we go upstairs it becomes very loopable

So have you tried dropping an EMF at the top of the stairs turned on just to make sure that it still slows down when coming out? Because if you're just holding the turned on EMF you might be out of range of the ghost without realising it

Hey guys, I've been playing for a while now and clearly some ghost types are less obvious to me than others. I just wanna ask for advice on how u guys test/distinguish these ghosts:
Yokai
Raiju
Jinn
Moroi
Mare

Please feel free to add anything you find useful, whether it's via hunting, unique evidence, etc... I know Yokai can't sense flashlight far away or Moroi curses you upon u hearing it. But playing on nightmare or insanity doesn't really give much evidence and I'd love to know some way to test for/ eliminate ghosts. (Idk how to test for Yokai's "dumbness" without knowing where the ghost is to stay far from it when hunt starts)

See with those ghosts atleast they have some sort of tell. Like mare you can get lucky with a light switch, yurei you can guess if the ghost is just constantly fully opening or closing doors, goryo if it doesnt change ghost rooms in 20 minutes isnt a bad shout. Sucks that Jinn just straight up has nothing though

In sayin that we had a 20 min apoc 3 asylum game today that didnt change room and had no abilities used so we thought it was a goryo but it was a mare lol

When playing specifically for money, it's not worth it to play on 50% speed and no sprint for the extrat 2.9x multiplier aye. I feel like having double speed + the ability to sprint and only losing out on less than 20% of your end of game money just makes too much sense but thought I would ask

In the meantime, I'd recommend just taking no extra gear into the contract. That way at least you can't lose anything if you die. And you're forced to work on the basics b/c that's all you have.

My biggest suggestion to new players: as soon as you enter a map, be looking for official hiding spots. Maybe even put a light source there too. That way, when a hunt starts and you’re running scared, you have a plan of where all you can run to. The light is to remind you despite the chaos/spoopyness lol

DumbWays gave very good advice; sanity management is crucial to learn. Stay in the light to keep your sanity up. It's helpful to keep the light off in the ghost room, but don't spend too much time in the dark yourself. And it's better to leave early and get the ghost wrong than die and get it right.
