Ok.. . what if we could become demon dogs when we die and the alive players can see us.
It can be a custom setting to toggle that either Lowers the multiplier a bit OR Make the ghost a little bit stronger/aggressive. That way they couldnt just help out with the investigation.

when you place them, you see a white circle, the ghost room just needs to be overlapping that circle

@lunar heart take more than one salt. You can go in and see if there is uv without worrying about trying to get the picture too. If there is uv, you can use your second salt to get the picture. I did that for a few runs until I got use to seeing the uv footprints.

I'm so confused. I went to try to get the first apocalypse trophy, expecting the ghost to try to kill me every 3 seconds, or something. I've spent over 2 hours trying to get it. All I got was 1 hunt. No events, nothing. Just 1 little hunt.

Thats just apoc 1. He will cobstantly hunt if you set to 0 sanity/ long hunt duration

(Also i would reccomend to just do apoc 3. Saves you a lot of time. You get apoc 2 and 1 trophy as well if you win)

I absolutely hate that escaping the ghost doesn't count if it's actively coming for you. Like it has to see you so. I was in the closet hiding and used the sound recorder (literally got the hunt audio) and that wasn't good enough for the optional objective. It kept opening my closet and I kept on having to close it and this thing was a MIMIC so it's extra terrifying because i only had one smudge and was afraid it would turn into something that would just insta kill me. T^T

Depends on play style. For example, smudge type can matter. If you want to freeze the ghost, that's tier 3. If you want it to go away from you quickly, that's tier 1. If you want it to be normal speed and go away from you, that's tier 2. Additionally, tier 3 headgear is frustrating because it glitches near the ghost. So either have a firelight or try UV (tier 2, so it's not electrical). Other than that, only have 1 of basic gear (because no evidence so you won't need most of them unless the optional objectives call for it) and everything else should be all or however many you need. That being said, you may think you don't need 4 igniters but I've had them glitch before so it's safe to have at least more than 1. Other than that, idk. Others probably have better feedback than me. Apoc 3 is evil and while others have claimed it's so easy (because apparently ppl are obnoxious like that), it really isn't. I've messed up so many times. Expect it to be difficult. If you get lucky, awesome. Good luck.
