What i did when i started was just play professional until i got it ckrrect like 80% of the time. Then switch to nightmare - get 2 evidence - usually have around 4 ghosts left to identify. For those either ask in here or use the cheat sheet pinned in #fan-creations to figure them out

Good to learn all the abilities and speed

Once you get comfy with that change to nightmare

It might take a few deaths to grt it consistantly but works fine. Just remember the main this you want to do is survive. So if you think its too hard atm just leave and try a new one

Usually the ghost can hunt after 25s after the last one (except Demon or when you smudge the ghost), if you think the ghost is hunting, try to flick the light switch, if you can turn it on and off, the ghost is not hunting, if you cant flick it on and off, it's hunting

on any difficulty, mimic will always show orbs (even on 0 evidence difficulty). so for example, if you were on nightmare, and you found uv & spirit box, but then see orbs, u can select mimic because on nightmare, you should only get 2 evidences from a ghost.

What settings do you use for friendly ghost?

Just really easy stuff like amateur, high ghost event frequency and interaction rate?

The distance is basically the same for sound and interference.

First, ghosts have a bit of a fade-in range of their footsteps and sounds. However, the boundaries are 20m for normal, 12m for Myling. Electronic disturbance starts at 10m

So between the 12m range and the fade-in, 10m is a pretty good indicator of Myling

myling's audible is 12m, electronic disturbance is 10m, but at 12m it's very quiet, so you start hearing footsteps at around 10 m

So you're listening for the right stuff, you'll get it.

good catch. another way of identifying is comparing its footsteps with your heartbeat. when myling approaches from a distance, the heartbeat should start playing at the same time you begin to hear the ghost's footsteps (still very quiet footsteps here), and if it spawns too close to tell and you can already hear both of them, compare the volume of the heartbeat with the volume of the ghost's footsteps, generally myling footsteps will be considerably quieter than the heartbeat that plays in your ears. the only issue with this method is that the ghost needs to have (mostly) clear line of sight to you for the heartbeat to play. sometimes you can hear it through obstructions like camp woodwind tables or the tanglewood counter that everyone loops around, sometimes you won't hear it at all. so it also may demand some small playstyle change just for that one test

standing vs crouching for a few seconds can make the difference here

Quick question, I was in a lobby the other day and I got told if the thermometer goes below 1, (i.e, 0.7) it is classed as freezing, me personally I wouldn't trust that method, it was freezing as a evidence for that game, but is that method correct and will it work every time?

yes because banshees use target sanity instead of group percent

so if the target is at 50% sanity then it can hunt when the group sanity is 87%

when you average out the sanities, assuming the target is the only person losing sanity, avg will be 87 when banshee is able to hunt, since it only looks at that person's sanity

how did you do the test? there's a couple ways now, and really only should be done the newest way since it's the quickest and easiest to read

i used to test by preventing it from hunting with firelights being constantly lit near it

NOW, the best way to test is to use one candle (or a lighter), when it blows it out, light it back up immediately, then see if it blows the same one out again within 20 seconds. all ghosts have a cooldown on blowing out a candle. so if a goryo blows out a candle, i has to wait 20 seconds to blow the same one out again. same for onryo, when it is smudged and has a smudge timer active on it. but when it's not smudged, it completely ignores that cooldown and can blow out the same candle back to back to back to back as frequently as it wants. onryo is the only ghost that does this. so if it blows out your candle, you light it back up right away, and it blows it out right away (or within 20 seconds of the last time it blew it out), ez onryo

do note that this cooldown only applies to the single candle. if any non-onryo ghost blows out a candle, it can still blow out OTHER candles right away and has no cooldown on them until they're blown out

identifying room changes can be difficult, you don't know when its actually changed rooms or just roaming. but i have a trick

thats why i quite like goryos and banshees on 0 evidence, sounds strange but if the ghost doesnt switch ghost rooms after a while, and there on the list it tends to be one of them, just identifying what 1 is the hard part.

after cruci burn or hunt ending, you have guarantee that the ghost will teleport straight to the ghost room. so, once you know where the ghost room is, put a motion sensor inside. when cruci burns or hunt ends, check if that motion sensor went off shortly after. that will tell you if it is still in the same room officially, or if it has changed rooms officially

i prefer tier 3 but tier 2 with the spread setting works fine if placed on the ground

phantom and wraith randomly decide "i wanna stalk someone" and pick a random person. wraith teleports to that person, phantom walks. banshee will spend like 66% of its time near the target and the other 33% in the ghost room or short roaming

another thing is that when a wraith teleports to someone, or a phantom walks to its randomly selected target, they will both emit EMF 2 at their destination once reached, banshee won't.

Me and my friend are pretty new to the game (lvl 11 and 12) and he’s been debating with me. Should I set up my dots and camera and watch from truck or stay in the room with the dots? Also I like to put the dots near the doors but he doesn’t want it near the doors.

We're it can cover most, and goryo can only be seen when no one is in same room as it so van is safer bet.

Use ur camera in the room, watch for both in person and on cams, just incase for goryo, of course if u need to return to the truck for some equipment, i spent a second just checking camms again.

Either way works, just make sure you've got decent coverage with the DOTS pens. If you're staying inside, you might wanna watch from the next room with light on while the light is off in the ghost room, to keep your sanity up.

I hang out in the kitchen with a motion sensor, crucifix, emf reader, and salt right under my feet
more motion sensors between the kitchen and the ghost room, in a line so we can see the path the ghost takes if it comes my way
ghost room is boys room

wraith: teleports to me, triggers motion sensor at my feet, but not the other ones, does not hit salt, and sets off EMF 2. maybe a few seconds later it burns crucifix and is forced to teleport back to ghost room like every ghost is, or it could just walk back to the ghost room and set off motion sensors along the way, because they only teleport TO players, when leaving they still walk.

phantom: you will see all the motion sensors in the path from boys room to kitchen where i am standing get set off in a line, since the ghost is walking the path. the motion sensor and salt at my feet will be triggered, the emf reader will give emf 2. the ghost can burn crucifix trying to hunt at this point, or walk back to the ghost room and set off motion sensors (or just sit there near me for a bit/roam a little before doing one of those)

banshee: same as phantom but no emf reader will go off.

thing doesn't change rooms, barely leaves the room because it only does the occasional short roam (picks a spot within 3 meter radius and walks there). after the first hunt, put a motion sensor(s) in the ghost room, may have to do some listening to find it bc the first hunt doesn't always have to start inside the ghost room. after the next hunt, or when it burns the next cruci, check if it sets off the motion sensor in the ghost room. if so, the room hasn't changed, if not, it has changed and needs to be found again, and you can rule out goryo and banshee (mostly, banshee is kinda screwy).
