I'm imagining that the ghost has a hunt threshold of 50% and if a player is generously nearly (close enough for an event), the hunt threshold starts increasing by 1% every few seconds. If people are talking or there's a source of noise nearby the hunt threshold lowers back down rapidly to a floor of 50%.

Something like that could be workshoppable

There's two rooms I do not like it when it's the Ghost room on Tanglewood. Foywer and Utility. The h design of the foyer makes it kinda awkward to look for possible Orbs. And Utility room is a bit small for that same purpose. Foyer should just be melded in to the living room and the utility should be melded in to the Garage IMO.

Can anyone explain how the ghost changing its favorite room works? If the % chances on the wiki are to be believed then it seems like it should be happening multiple times a night even on Professional, but I've only ever seen it change rooms once or twice ever.

It's a hard thing to put a true percentage on because I've played games 30 mins where they've changed rooms three-five times and I've played games where they never change rooms.
Anytime a ghost long roams away from its favorite room it has a chance to change the room.
Goryo and banshee* (technically) cannot long roam so that's why they do not change rooms.

It also needs to long roam before it has this chance.

The smudge actually has to hit the ghost and then demons will not be able to hunt for 60 seconds minimum other ghosts will not be able to hunt for 1 minute and 30 seconds minimum and a spirit will not be able to hunt for 3 minutes minimum
All depends if the smudge correctly hits.

One thing a lot of people get wrong with the smudges they just smudge the ghost room but the ghost might have walked out of it

If you have it down to Mimic/Twins/Moroi then you likely have spirit box and freezing. If you don't have orbs you can rule out Onryo and Mimic straight away, then its just down to Twins/Moroi

If you turn the lights on the same room that a ghost is in they will stop their activity it's better to turn lights on somewhere else if you're trying to keep your sanity up

Not all of the lights, that'll overload the fuse box. Having a few lights on in well travelled areas so you can keep your sanity up is important. I'd recommend keeping them off in the ghost room specifically.

After the first smudge I know I have a minute 30 with most ghosts to try to find that room

Remember I'm talking actually trying to figure out the ghost because of all abilities not running in there and only checking hunt speed I use all four of my smudges

Look for the coldest room, keep your ears open and have an EMF reader to try and track down sounds. When you've found the ghost room (colder room), focus your search there. keep the lights off in the ghost room to encourage activity but spend most of your time in the light to keep your sanity up

I remember when I first started out I had that same issue of not knowing if I was using items correctly. What helped me was watching streamers/yters play rounds of phas and then just mimicking what they did until I grasped how things worked and eventually developed my own playstyle

sounds like tanglewood and yeah that map can be a bit claustrophobic if ur not in the living room/kitchen area. The best thing in that instance would be to try and stand as close to the deo as possible without it killing you and slowly walk back towards the corner. This way you slow the deo even more and buy yourself more time for the hunt to hopefully end

The training helps if you haven't done that yet. Most things the ghost does are going to be pretty typical ghost behaviour. You don't really want to be too quick to write off or rule out evidences.

those are pretty consistent. Be in room with it and setup so you have a clear view of where it would roam towards you. Use motion sensors to know it's location so you know where it'll roam from.
why do you need to know where it'll roam from? Well when in same room with a ghost when it enters dots, it will roam to player.

First you have to be level 50, then you go to the difficulty selection thing, and select apocalypse difficulty. You have to do it in singleplayer, identify the ghost, get a photo of the ghost and then complete all three objectives. Doesn't matter if you live or die, and at the end, you get the trophy unlocked
