when you smudge, you have to be near the ghost's physical location for the smudge timer to start

Okay so I think I'm dealing with a Goryo but I'm not sure what is going on.

So I'm doing the apocalypse 3 challenge in sunny meadows. I'm sitting in champel and it sounds like the ghost keeps spawning in the kitchen. It hasn't roamed to me or anything I have a parabolic mic with me to test for Myling. It hears my radio when I sit by the piano but it doesn't come to me. The closest it's gotten is the hallway next to me and that's as far as it has gotten. He always seems to spawn in kitchen tho when I aim the mic toward that direction.

Are you 100%? There’s a chance a windows update could’ve changed something. You also want to make sure your windows and drivers are up to date, and you could give a try at verifying your game files.

the weird thing about my situation is after some tinkering and finding out that it is using the right microphone and it sounds as it always has i managed to get the voice recognition success rate up to a maximum of 20%. i played with the audio settings and changed the voice recognition mode between “voice” and “system voice” about 5 times, and after settling on “system voice” the spirit box would pick up “where are you?” occasionally, but everything else is fucked

A ton of ghost can throw a lot especially during a hunt. I never say poltergeist unless I see it for myself on how it’s throwing the items because it can be tough through Paramic

”IN VR, you need to go for speech recognition. In WMR you have to click the windows button, and the standard menu will pop up (torch, volume, and such things). ON TOP of it, you will find three icons. One of them is mic, with speech on on it. You have to turn it on. It's kind of independent on normal speech recognition”
Not sure if this will help but give it a try if not you might need to do some research on your own

well at least you can rule out some of the speed-variance ghosts, like Rev (super slow when not in LOS) and Deogen (since it doesn't know where you're at 100% of the time)

Deo- very fast, slow when close to player, and you can’t hide from it
Yokai- will ignore your electronics from a certain range, and it’ll be more aggressive if you’re speaking near it
Phantom- is very hard to see during hunt meaning it’s less visible. You can take a photo of it, it should disappear and it won’t show in photos (only if there’s room in the book)

Monkey paw can drain 25% sanity. You can do even better by wishing for sanity first but that will make the ghost change rooms
Cards and voodoo doll are too RNG to be reliable.
Otherwise just wait in the dark, maybe near the ghost so you cna get some events.

This week's challenge is a proper nightmare. I don't think it's very easy on singleplayer. We had to do 2 players, with one player in the van, the other player taking little pilgrimages into the prison. As well as a touch of metagaming if one of us died.

It baffles me why there are 3 doors to the prison, but one 1 accessible via the van. I don't understand the point of the prison yard doors, beyond easier travel from one side of the prison to the other

With school, we could use any side entrance. Shame prison isn't the same.
