Must have been a ghost event. Sometimes they're far away so you can't hear them, sometimes they disappear immediately because they were too close to you and you moved. I've seen events that only play out for 0.1 seconds before

try a file check in steam and, for good measure, open a powershell in admin mode (right click on start menu) and type chkdsk /x (and confirm). Then reboot and let the checkdisk make its job (that's basic windows command that, as the name suggest, check your disk for errors)

if the breaker is on, it's very possible (but it should be fast in its room, at the start of the hunt). Could be a very old Thaye too

Edgefield is the only map I know that the crucifix can burn inside the van especially when the ghost is a Demon (huge crucifix radius) and it starts to hunt in the master's bedroom or the hallway in front of the master's bedroom
