Because envirmental sounds and player sounds are different? The door toilets and showers as well as thrown objects are environment sounds. Also I don't think the ghost ai is smart enough to hear an environmental sound and chase after it. Otherwise it would probably go in circles since the ghost itself does a lot of environmental sounds while it hunts.

As for yokai its a bit tougher you have to be in the open don't ever try it in a hiding spot. But what you can do is talk while it's hunting, hold an electronic that's turned on until it blinks, or use global until it gets fuzzy. If you do that and ghost doesn't come up to you right away it's a yokai

Depending on the difficulty, the sanity drops at different rates. Also if you have blood moon on sanity drops considerably faster. Ghost events also drop sanity, it's really difficult to tell when a ghost will hunt and it's advisable to carry a crucifix with you to avoid insta deaths.
