I talk to alot of players and genuinely, I feel like alot of us want the same stuff.
So here is a place to put it.

I cannot say anything about what's coming from play test, but I am doing my best to make sure what does come from play test is good, innovative, fun, and most importantly is still pop 1.

For me.... the absolute most crucial thing I want from this game moving forward:

Bigger Lobbies. the game already supports 24.
24 should be a minimum. this isnt 2020 vr anymore. Other games have 60 player lobbies.

Let me know what you want most.

24 lobbies should be the minimum. Would love to see 30 and a slightly bigger map.

First thing I would fix is the platforms though as they have been broken ever since they extended the west side the map and the hot drops not been as equal as they were previously.

I'd like teams to be filled before the game starts. So many teams of 1 or 2 vs multiple teams of 3. I'm fine waiting a few more seconds for additional players to fill the teams.

If BB isnt going to balance the awp then a full loot table nerf is in order. this sniper meta is the worst meta in Pop history. give me broken OP DT meta at least you had to get close.

Working region selection and 1 main BR map instead of 2. Some quality of life communication features. Current balancing inside a lobby removed so you can actually play solo. Nothing that takes much development and the game will be so much better for it.

I've been a member of several different communities over the years and am still active in several, it's been incredibly rare for me to get this kind of response, but in this particular community it seems to have happened more.

A dedicated "ranked" mode that plays on the Evolving map.
Edit: but I also can't help but think that there is something that I am missing that actually maybe does not make this a good idea?
Ie some kind of factor that I haven't considered, which I sort of am aware of but not yet exactly what it is. At one point I thought this move would be obvious but not anymore and I'm not 💯 why. Still could be the right one.

My only issue with that is dividing the player count even further. The original map/mode doesn't always fill lobbies as it is, let alone if a large chunk of the players moved over to a ranked mode to compete there. It may make the original map/mode easier on average if more experienced players leave, but a more challenging full lobby is more fun then an easy under populated lobby imo.

So my thing with that is

-players who want to play ranked will do so regardless of guaranteed full lobbies, just as long as whoever wants to be playing ranked can do so. It's not about lobby size it's about the grind for rank.
That all said I do think they will be full anywhere. Last time with what ranked did to pubs it seems pretty clear the demand was out there 😀

-The players who will switch to ranked are the exact players that will won't be missed in squads. One of the most common complaints is that every squads lobby has that three stacked squad of "sweats" aka players who really play the game, and there is nothing wrong with that. But that squad (or two) runs over everyone. Not that lobbies are necessarily full of them. There's just "one in every lobby."

Those are the exact squads who would play ranked and in a sense are already playing "ranked," just in pubs, because that's as close as it gets for now.

Last time there was ranked it made "sweats" play a lot, and play the meta way harder.

This in turn drove the casuals out because in part it turns out the meta wasn't super fun necessarily

This proves that

-If ranked, sweats will play more (definitely proven)

-Maybe if sweats are playing ranked instead ,pubs might get busier? Since last time, with sweats playing more, and playing more to the meta, casuals played less. This means it's perhaps likely that the opposite is true and if sweats play less (ie they are off in ranked) casuals might play more?

This is what I care about:

  • Full lobbies
  • Short wait times
    If evolving is dead (and it is most of the day now unless you play in peak US times) playing classic only makes sense.

Last time ranked mode almost killed pop1. Also I’m not sure where you took the details of “sweats played more and it’s proven”

On the contrary, At the time Watchu even showed that at some point even if you win a game and kill a lot. You still LOSE points. So many sweats just played Squads enough for them to hold the title and the rest of the time played TDM.

To be clear
The two modes should be separate
Ranked mode almost killed POP because competitive type players played in pubs, where they drove out casuals (like me)

From polling players around here, fair amount say that they would play ranked if available, and play more

This takes them out of the pubs pool, where they won't be missed

It doesn't take a lot of players out of the pubs pool necessarily

Just the ones, conveniently, that casuals would like to play against in pubs the least

It would not need to come back exactly the same

Just a ranked mode for those who want

And not who don't

And that’s the main problem. That players like you went to TDM and never looked back.

The sweats in this game don’t need a special attention. Nor do they need a specific mode in game to cater to their needs.
Players who want to test their real skill play comp.

What pop1 needs is a way to make all the sandbox players mix within the BR portion of the game (maybe by BG coins, double experience etc)

Remove one of the map (preferably Classic)

And hopefully that will help with the very spread thin playerbase.

This game is hurt severely by all the different modes and maps. TDM / Hangout / classic / Sandbox... there simply aren't enough players to sustain that.. because of this people have to play on wrong regions and no match making can be applied.. it's all connected but most issues can be fixed by simple cutting into the maps and modes.

An extra plus for removing map is that the quality of the remaining map could be higher (if dev was interested in that) but there are still so many collision / visibility issues that could be fixed which is much easier to handle with only 1 main map.

It's not about who want to play what.. the issue is people stop playing and the playerbase is getting to tin.. eventually nobody will be left and while development can't stop any further servers will be shut down and no maintenance will be done.

And remember it's a "game as a service" game... don't forget that.

Nah it's long past that

POP ONE was originally a Battle Royale just like Fortnite

Now it's a whole game platform just like Fortnite

My disinterest in BR has nothing to do with its shortcomings and exclusively to do with my preferred playstyle and game style which is basically only possible in Deathmatch.

I also prefer the 1:1 value of a Kill to a death that Deathmatch offers ie dying in Deathmatch is the same as getting a kill whereas dying in BR is way worse than getting a kill.

I've played POP since early 2021 and it being a BR was never a reason I played, I always loved the movement and mechanics and BR just happened to be the only mode it took place in.

When TDM dropped after a while I realized I could make it all about movement and mechanics, and because a kill and death are equal value, engage in a lot more risky and fun play (to me).

It's not possible for BR to offer what I want and that's fine 🤙

I guess we’re getting on at drastically different times then. While the game is in yet another low state right now, I’ve been seeing a lot of people coming back after hearing rumors about what BigBox is coming next. The playerbase was so much smaller before free to play than it is now at many points of time in the game’s lifecycle. What the game needs is new things that’ll keep player retention high and solutions to why people left in the first place like sweats. I understand the game is in a bit of a messy state right now, but it’s been in this very same place before. Comp leagues have full lobbies most of the time, they have a massive competitive audience, it might be a way to help newer players have a much more enjoyable time because they’re not being decimated by players who play this game as a part time or full time job.

Plus there’s only been a couple hackers, if they implement an anti cheat that bans their entire computer system then they’d have a much harder time

-game goes free on quest devices only, both pcvr platforms reduce in price to $19.99

-quest is no longer free to play, probably goes to $19.99

considering how pissed the pcvr community was that their version of the game wasnt free, cant imagine the quest kiddies when they missed their chance to download a game while it was free cuz their mommy said no
